Eligibility for a Certificate of Employability
A person can apply for a New Haven certificates of employability through the CSSD if they have been convicted of a crime or crimes in any location and are still under the supervision of the CSSDD. If someone is currently serving probation supervised by Adult Probation.
What is the Application Process?
A person must have completed 90 days of supervision successfully or, if their sentence is complete, have been in the community for 90 days with no new arrests. People no longer under CSSD supervision can seek a Certificate of Employability through the Board of Pardons and Paroles.
The application for the Certificate of Employability asks questions about education and training, employment history, criminal history, and the identities of any victims of the applicant’s crimes. If someone is still on probation or under supervision, the probation officer must fill out a form.
